This past week I was able to experience one of the many great pleasures of running for Congress - being invited to be a part of the welcoming committee for Senator John McCain. There is no doubt about one thing : Senator McCain is an American hero…. Annapolis man, Navy pilot, prisoner of war, congressman, senator and now presidential candidate. You have to ask yourself, what more can one man do for his country? It was an honor for me just to be in the same room with him, and now I am going to be on the ballot with him. I just hope when I am elected, my contribution to this great country is 1/10 of what Senator McCain has already given all of us.Another thing was also clear, Senator McCain may be in his 70’s but he is not slowing down. The pace he maintains is amazing. These Presidential campaigns are well - oiled machines. Secret Service, motorcades, incredibly tight schedules … and just think about it, he has to repeat what he did in Buffalo every day between now and the election just to stay competitive. That is a lot of time and a lot of energy. And speaking of energy, having Senator McCain in town was an inspiration to me and my campaign. He gave everyone at Humiston for Congress a boost that will carry us into August and I can’t wait to get out and shake a few more
hands.

Mid Summer Update
Wow, the last two weekends have been crazy. I must have shaken hands with 10,000 people between all the Fourth of July parades and festivals. I was in East Aurora, Cheektowaga, Orchard Park and Lancaster over the holiday weekend--- what a great way to celebrate our nation’s birthday!
This past weekend, we did not let up. Between a fun jaunt in Mayville at the Tom Drake Memorial 5K run, the Queen of Heaven Carnival in West Seneca and handing out Humiston for Congress balloons at the Taste of Buffalo, and I am just getting started!
This weekend is another busy one. I will be at the Buffalo Italian Heritage Festival, Hamburg Burger Fest, Rock the Harbor also in Buffalo, Picnics in Boston and Wales, and the General Pulaski Day Parade. And further down the road we have Chautauqua County Fair in Dunkirk and Caribbean Night in Orchard Park – and that will almost take us into August. We have a complete list on the website so check it out. I’m trying to attend everything so if you know about an event let us know, I don’t want to miss anything. My goal is to shake every voter’s hand in the 27th Congressional District so if I haven’t found you yet, I will.
Thanks for your interest in my campaign and I hope you let me know what you think is important in this election.

Fourth of July Update
Hi Everyone,
As we approach the most important national holiday of the
year, I thought I would give you a quick end of June update. I
spent the second half of June doing what I think is the most fun and
exhilarating part of a campaign -- meeting as many people as
possible. From parades in Brant and West Seneca to picnics in Alden
and Cheektowaga, I’ve talked to so many people.
The one thing everyone wants to talk about is the economy --
how expensive everything is and how much the price of everything seems to be
going up. Most people are frustrated that their paycheck
isn’t covering their expenses and they’re worried that things are getting
worse. I’m giving a lot of pep talks; reminding everyone that
we live in the most innovative and resourceful nation on earth and there’s
never been a challenge that Americans haven’t been able to solve - things will
get better.
I know things will get better because I have faith in the
American people and our knack of finding the right leaders for the times.
Americans instinctively know when it’s time to change leadership and, based on what
I’m hearing, that time is now.
I hope to speak to each of you soon,
Happy Fourth of July and God Bless America

June Campaign Update
Hi Everyone,
I can’t believe that June is half over. I’ve been so busy
that I haven’t had an opportunity to update my blog.Right now however I find myself with a rare
5 hours of downtime trapped in the middle seat on a Southwest flight home from
a fundraiser in Las Vegas – a good time to send you a quick update.
June is petition month; for those of us who have never done
this it’s an incredibly important part of the process and necessary to get my
name on the ballot in November. It’s really time-consuming because we have to
gather signatures from thousands of voters registered in the party we intend to
represent – in my case both the Independence and Republican parties.Every night a team of volunteers hits the
streets and goes door to door asking people to sign petitions.I’m
really proud of my team, they are working so hard.I also appreciate the help from all the
other teams and committees with whom we are working to get the required signatures,
thank you!
The best part of the campaign is going to events and meeting
people and it seems there is something happening every day -- parades, 5k’s,
picnics, fundraisers, etc.I never
realized how many events there are -- fortunately I love barbeque chicken. The encouragement, support and energy I am
receiving from the residents across the district is what makes this effort so
gratifying.
Just one of the highlights so far was running with my kids
in the Jog For The Jake on Father’s Day.While the kids initially weren’t too happy that they had to get up
early, wear bright orange Humiston For Congress t-shirts (how embarrassing) and
run 5 Ks, once they got started they had a blast and so did I.
The most challenging part of the campaign is raising the money
required to get our message out. This
month’s been a lot of fun because we’ve had a number of fundraisers. We had a party at my house on June 5th,
one in Ohio on June 10th, and
yesterday we had one in Las Vegas. There are two more parties this month one on
the 26th and one on the 27th.Parties are easy for me because I just show
up but fundraisers are a lot of work for the people that organize them; I just
want to let everyone know how much I appreciate the hard work.
The craziest story of the campaign so far is my run-in with
a not-so-supportive dog.On the way
home from the Springville parade I had to drop off petitions at a supporter’s house
in the country. When I got out of the
car I was greeted by a big (seemingly) friendly dog that I petted for a couple
minutes before heading up to the house. As I was being escorted back to my car, the “friendly “dog had a change
of heart and started growling at me -- I guess he must have been a Democrat! Before I knew it he was trying to bite my leg!He got a good grip on my pants including a
little bit of my leg and wasn’t letting go.It quickly became apparent that negotiation was out of the question so I
decided to retreat.Just as I did, he
ripped my pant leg off!!!When I
finally climbed into the safety of my car I was greeted by the howls of laughter
from my children, who thought that watching their dad get chased around the
driveway by this dog was the funniest thing they had ever seen.
More to come.

Welcome to Humiston for Congress
As I kick off my campaign for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives, I want to thank everyone in Upstate New York for your past support of my business. For the past 23 years, Tanning Bed has been successful because of you. Now I feel it’s my responsibility to give back to the community that is giving me so much.
I am, at heart, an entrepreneur. The best definition I have ever heard of an entrepreneur is someone who sees the invisible to achieve the impossible. I want to bring my experience and creativity to Congress to help change the way our government works. I believe that the only way to get better results is to find better ways of doing things. And I welcome that challenge. I look forward to serving you in the United States House of Representatives.
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about my campaign. Please check back often for updates, news, and event information.
